I figured after looking at some of the bass build projects people were dreaming up, there was no excuse for me not to take a stab at something fun.
I wanted to use materials I found around the house and build something two-string'd and fret-less... including a big chunky neck to avoid truss rod action on my 'found materials' bass.
Insert random old humbucker, leftover maple from flooring job last summer. *Here are all my updates so far...
First Drawing Notes... kind of a Klien meets gumby idea for the small body.
Mockup for visual reference w/"top"
Another four strips that I cut and planed to be the depth of the body.
GluE!
Found this wood I was going to use for the neck, but even after cleaning it up there was a problem.
Planed a damn brown off screw/nail (new blades.. blah)
More flooring it is then!
More progress this morning.
New flooring cut and gluing for the neck
Top half body glue - Still unsure if I'm gonna leave it like this or not (rough sketch) - or sand it and then paint/stain. *Will see how it looks after a few more steps.
Spent a bit more time on this today... finished rough sanding, did some routing and test fitting.
