this my first build thread, but not my first build. its gonna be a super rainbow bass. i will be starting right after christmas so you dont have to wait too long. anyway, here is a rendering i did on paint, yes, im very good with paint im set on the body being a rainbow, but im not sure about the rest, such as pup covers and nobs, etc. so any suggestions will be great, if you think it looks tacky, please be brutal, cause i want this to look awsome and im not too happy with the total rainbow, so i probably will change it
Specs:
5 string fretted
dual nostrant j style pups
gotoh compact tuners
home made bridge
brass nut
all gold hardware
and LOTS of different woods

Any suggestion on how to start building basses? I' m interested in doing that. Do you do the electronics yourself as well?
thanks,

| | | | well, actually, im terrible at electronics, so i buy a wiring kit from stewart macdonald, but ive been wood working since i was like 5, so im very good at that part. i jumped right into it by building a bass first, i didnt spend too much, and it turned out great. you really should have some experiance building other things before you just jump into making a bass, it is quite challenging, and you really learn alot by doing it. and its quite addictive, if you have any questions about the specifics, just pm me

This looks odd, untraditional, and possibly uncomfortable to me. I'm a "form follows function" guy, so I'm interested in whether or not there's an ergonomic reason for the shape. |

| | | | yeah, paint screws me up some times, i have some hand drawn pictures that i will scan on, everything is nicely in proportion there

If you made the horns a little smaller I think it would look pretty cool

| | | | yeah, like i said, i have some hand drawn stuff that is more in proportion, the horns are a tab but inside the "hips" of the bass, and extend up instead of out, having at least 3 lams in each horn

| | | | yeah, so just started the build today, and i would say i got quite a bit done for one day of work, planed and ripped all the wood, glued the body blank together, made the knobs, that one was a little out of place for right now, started the pup covers, so im doin good, theres alot of glue on tht body blank, wow, i didnt even notice that

Guess what, I still have to glue the last 3/4" on each sides
