First Fretted to Fretless Conversion!

Hey guys! A buddy of mine wanted a new sound from his Guitar (yes...sorry. It was a guitar ) haha. So he asked me what I could do. So I suggest that I could make it fretless. He loved the idea.
He gave me his Epiphone Les Paul and said see you soon!
So I got to work. Took apart the entire guitar, gave it a through cleaning, and yanked those frets out haha.
Here's the finished product. The guitar neck had dings and such, and was in rough shape to begin with. But here ya go! Tell me what you think!
I used wood filler for the frets and coated it with 5 layers of Varnish.

Side Shot

Down the neck.

Up the neck.

My "Workshop" if you will. It's just where I hung the neck.

Thanks, Guys!

Very Cool!

Let us know how he likes it. I have thought of doing the same thing on numerous occassions but never got around to it.

Did you play it?

What did you think?

Joe.

It sounds great!
It's a completely different experience from the fretless bass. The way the higher strings react with no frets feels weird. On the higher frets, you REALLY have to push down. But, I lowered the action quite a bit, tilted the neck. And now, it plays great!
With some new pickups in it, it'd be phenominal!
