First neck build

Sign in to disble this ad
So a recent bad buy on my part has left me with the only solution being a new neck.

The bass is a Warwick thumb b.o. 5 string broad neck. I have decided to go "retro" Warwick and build the seven piece bubinga/wenge style.

So i know that Warwick uses some type alloy supports in their necks running adjecent to the truss rod, also that there are graphite supports on the market.

I am looking for some advice in the matter of reinforcing (or not) a neck that will already seem to be stiff and sturdy.

Any feedback, first hand accounts, or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

If you are using a 7 piece Bubinga and Wenge neck you will not need additional support.

Honestly, not one thought about it! I guess that it will be simmilar to the 4 piece walnut that it origonaly had witch will undoubtebly be heavy.

There are many things I have not decided on yet like the board metirial, head stock face veneers, inlays? So many choices when you can do what ever your skill level and tool availability will allow.

Ahhhh, WENGE!
