| First neck finish w/ reranch nitro ... small run on back of headstock?

OK, I've done some research, have a new Warmoth maple neck, and applied 3 coats of reranch satin nitro on this beautiful afternoon. On my second coat, I think I had a little run on the back of the headstock.
I expect I should wait a little while and then sand it? How long should I wait? What grit sandpaper should I use for this? Use a block with the sandpaper?
When all is good, I'd like to apply a light coat of neck amber, then hit it with more satin nitro.
Any suggestions are most welcome!
