First real build

Hey all I often dream about making my own basses and have done alot of studying on the subject. Now I think it's time for me to have a go at at true high quality build. Although my tools are limited I think it will be sort of my way of paying my dues on my way to becoming a skilled luthier. I will update this thread as often as I can but money might make the progress come along a bit slow.

Anyway here it is.

Still mostly in the design phase but here is specs (may change a bit)

-4 string
-single cut custom designed
-34'' scale
-neck thru
-13 degree headstock angle, headstock will match top wood.
-I think the body wood will end up being swamp ash (unless I find something else that really looks clean)
-Neck will be a mult laminate with birdseye maple as the main focus with stringers of a dark contrast wood like wenge.
-For the top wood I'm torn between buckeye burl or highly figured redwood
-wood pickup covers
-I dont really know what my pickup config will be yet I've pondered everything from using the Seymour-Duncan 1/4lb Jazz pickups from my essex to buying a p/j set of some kind to EBMM or if I can find a soapbar that will give me the aggressive sound that I want
-Preamp will Most likely be Aguilar
-as for a fretboard I'm not sure yet (any ideas are welcome)

The bird was helping

an idea for logo @ 12 fret and headstock

The right side of the headstock will be mirrored on the other side

MDF for templates

Pics work for me.

The design is cool. Very classic. Reminds me of the BC Rich Seagull in a vague way.

i like it as well. personally, i'd just make that lower horn an inch longer for a better stability while sitting. good luck !

Thanks for the compliments guys. As of now the two wing templates have been cut out and are shaped and ready to be used for cutting the body core and what ever i decide on for a top. And i had thought about making the treble side horn longer but i just really like the look of it but i think it will be ok, i hope im not wrong lol
