| Fixing chips in my top

Okay, I haven't worked on my bass build in a long while due to some financial problems, and lack of time. But luckily, I'm making time to finish this.
My problem is, the last time I worked on it, I sent my body blanks (the wings) through the planer, and on one of the walnut tops, it chipped the wood pretty good. Most of it I can just sand away, but there are a few spots that were pretty deep. How should I go about fixing this? Should I fill them with a transparent glue? I'll try to get some good pictures to show what I'm talking about.
Thanks for any help
