Question fixing neck-drag?

Sign in to disble this ad
I own a conklin gt-7(wenge,and purpleheart neck),and the back of the neck is dry and my thumb drags ruthlessly...especially in the lower register.

I'm not sure what to use to fix this problem? Tung oil, some sort of wax?

Just wanted to see what you guys would suggest?

It's natural finish, right?
Then first take a bit coarser clean cloth, and rub the neck thoroughly to get rid of dirt and grime stuck on it.

If the wood texture is also bad (coarse), then buff with an 0000 steel wool piece; blow the dust off, again rub with cloth, reapply a couple of coats of tung oil (or TruOil), and when the last one dried, also, then apply one or two coats of wax with a fine, clean cloth, and buff it real good.

If the wood underneath is not so coarse, then just apply two coats of wax (wait a couple of hours between buffing and reapplying), and wax the last one good.
