FIXING STRAP BUTTON ON TAILPIECE...

Sign in to disble this ad
The strap button on my Fender Aerodyne came off...
They screw just spins and spins...
The body I believe is made of basswood...
Any suggestions on how to fix it? Thanks!

if you dont have loctite, use matchsticks. slide one into the hole untill it stops then mark the length, use a craftknife to cut down to that length, cut it in half, mabey half again and insert into the hole, you dont want it all filled in though you want a hole in the middle so its still easy to get the screw in.

this will give the screw grip and should be fine.

alot of poeple say use PVA glue but DONT USE GLUE if you do the body can sometimes crack.

Toothpicks work if you're at a gig with no loctite or Crazy Glue Gel.
Basses here get a drop or few of JB Kwik( http://jbweld.net/products/jbkwik.php ) put in the screw hole and a drop on the screw thread before assembly(Strap Loc installs).
