Fixing a weak neck

Posts about 34" vs 35" for B string basses, are making me wonder if it'd be worth the time, energy and cost to pull the fingerboard on my limp B string LB76(34"), and add carbon fiber neck rods. It's a 1-piece maple neck-through.

Id be putting same fingerboard back on. Thoughts ?

No.

Stiffening the neck won't stiffen the B string. The 35" scale gives you a tighter B string because the greater speaking length of the string requires more tension to tune it to low B than the same guage of string on a 34" scale.

You would be better off just getting a bigger guage B string, filing the nut if neccessary, tweak the trussrod to adjust the neck relief as required and away you go.

If you've got a standard bridge instead of one that runs thru the body you might look into changing it. That will give you the added string length to tighten up your B-string. But, I'd say forget about the trouble and expen$e of taking the neck apart. Save your money up and buy a real good 5-string bass.
