Flat Finish

I have a new BTB556 and it has a natural FLAT finish what's the best way to take care of a bass with and flat finish and what is actually is used to make a flat finish on a bass? Thanks!

I had one bass that had a flat/satin plastic-y finish. I liked it, but the matte-ness must have been only in the surface treatment rather than in the actual finish content, because where my arm rubbed and where my thumb rested it got polished shiny. So I ended up putting polish/wax on the whole thing to make it match.
