flat spot on back of the neck

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi. I have one of those new fender precisions and noticed a flat spot on the back of the neck. It's around the 5th fret on the bass side. I never wrap my thumb around, so I never felt or noticed it before. But It's clearly visible when you look from a certain angle. While I was taking some of the shine out of the finish with a scotchbrite pad, I noticed it.It's under the finish and definitely a manuf defect. It's about one inch long and quarter inch wide. Is this repairable or should I just leave it alone? Thanks for reading.

Why worry if it doesn't bother you, or you can't feel it?
Seems like only a cosmetic issue, don't sweat it.
Amazing to think a CNC can make a mistake, but my guess it some human must have caused the issue.
Dirk

It could be the machine Dirk, with all the wood that flys, and the steppers, and racks, many things can go afoul in a mass production situation.

As for the flat spot, consider it an Identifying mark if your bass gets stolen, and just keep on playing, now you know it's only yours.
