Foam Padding.......

Sign in to disble this ad
Sorry! I'm a newb, but new to the world of bass. What is the foam pad located under the strings at the bridge of older model fender used for? I'm thinking maybe a string mute?

Thanks for the help!

Yep, that would be a string mute. Leo Fender thought we all wanted to sound like upright bass players. I thought the original ones were felt rather than foam though.

Thanks! Mine is foam...might have a felt-y top to it, but pretty annoying regardless of the material.

Thanks!
