Fodera Monarch inspired build

Sign in to disble this ad
New pics added!!!!

I'm a big fan of Fodera bass design and f-bass construction. I just don't wanna spend that much money on a bass, so i decided the build myself a Fodera monarch clone with an F-bass type of neck attachment and construction...

I will start planing my wood pieces next week-end.

Here are the spec..

Quartersawn Ash body and neck
Walnut stringer, birdseye maple fretboard....
Bubinga top!
22 frets, hipshot a-style bridge and tuners.
Nordstrand Fat Stack pups and 2 band preamp

sounds pretty cool, and personally, i would go with a really nicely figured bubinga top, but nice choices for everything

codyallen, it's a good idea, maybe i should do a yin yan type of type, let me think about it...

Punkanidea, You can custom order the nordstrand jazz pickup in soapbar shell and it doesn't change the sound at all...

I'm using the soapbar shape because it offers a little more surface for my thumb and because later if i want dual coil or fatstack and can swap them without the need of routing new pickup cavity

wood pieces

You'll find some Quarter sawn Ash for the neck and body..

ther's also black Walnut stringer for both neck and body
(the body and neck will have a 5/8" centercore with 2 x 3/16" walnut stringer)

You'll see my Morado top, i just bought a Bubinga top, it should arrive tuesday so i'll have to wait to next week-end before starting my next build...

I found the quartersawn ash here in Canada (windhorse farm, nova scotia) you can order it in almost any thickness up to 8 feet long...

I'll probably have too much. tell me if you want some

If he doesn't take it, I could be interested, so just PM me to let me know if you have surplus. Good luck on the build.
