I used this method quite a lot to fine tune my templates. Because the tape thickness is about 0.1 mm you can make a perfect fit with adjusting the number of layers. You might get away with adjusting your template and routing a new one from there, without having to recut your neck pocket.

I've got 4 pieces of tape around the end of the template where the gap was. That should be enough to make the routed blanks just a smidge larger than the neck pocket. |

I added 4 pieces of tape (0.005"). I just finished trimming the blank and I've still got an 0.008" gap. Either my router table isn't completely flat or my bit isn't exactly 90 degrees to the table. It's a pretty cheap setup, so both are possible. |

I wonder if I could glue that to the edge of the neck blank then sand to neck pocket to fit. Might be an option and would tie in with the black fingerboard and black hardware.
Another option that I thought of would be to let the end of the fingerboard hang over the end of the neck a little. |

With only adjusting the router bit, this one came out big enough that i had to sand it to fit. There are still some small gaps ( on the order of 0.005") along the joint, but this one is a much tighter fit.
I should be able to route the slot for the truss rod and get the fingerboard glued on this week. |

Instead of cutting a recess for the headpiece on the front of the neck, I'm going to see if I can mount it on the back. I think it will result in a much cleaner look.
The fingerboard is right around 3 octaves long. It overhangs the neck by about 1/2 an inch. There is ver little space between the back of the fingerboard and the body, so it's hard to tell the overhang is even there.
Next up is cutting a nut slot and gluing an extra piece on the back of the neck for the volute. |

The fretboard is parallel with the front of the body. If I decide to angle the neck, I'll get tricky and still keep them parallel. I don't like a lot of room between the strings and the body. |
