Fretboard Removal, re: Binding & Inlays

Sign in to disble this ad
This is actually in reference to a Les Paul, rather than a bass, but I'm not having much luck with Google.

I have an LP(mahogany/ebony neck), and it's looking like I may have to remove(or have a pro remove, but ideally I'd be learning to do this stuff myself) the fretboard, I'm wondering, if I steam it will the heat damage the mother of pearl inlays, or melt the plastic binding? Google pretty much gives me both yes and no answers, heh.
