I decided to cut out the headstock template to see how it would look.

Looking at where the new tuner holes will be, none of them should really overlap into the new wings I will be adding to the headstock. Yay!
I also cut out the Side walls of the neck pocket. It fits great and it's starting to look like a LoBue! Rock and roll!

Punisher size comparison.

He also was buying and re-selling comics for profit way before anyone even thought of that.

In his book, Gene said he originally bought used 100 watt tube Marshall amps, and he would make money by renting them to other bands. Gene and Paul were introduced because Gene had better gear than most people at the time, and because Paul wrote his own songs too. Since then, he has owned pretty much everything, and came to the decision that he didn't really care...He would make what ever his tech wanted to use work.

The last I heard, he had gone Geddy, and was just using a Sansamp. But he's been on the road along time, and you can find someone to argue different setups...but that is because he has used different amp setups for different tours...including no amp. I read an interview once where he said he had a building full of amps, and he didn't really care which amps the tech pulled out to tour with..it didn't matter at all to him.

I actually read where Paul Stanley would get guitars from Gibson (on some interval) and sell them when he got them!

Yup, he also admits that on Kissology 2 when he does the commentary on their performance at "Midnight special"

He would pawn them as soon as he got them so he had a few bucks to get himself something to eat.

He also said that he once wanted to ask their manager Bill Aucoin if he could borrow 10 bucks but kept his mouth shut when he saw what kind of state Aucoin was in: Unshaven, walking on worn out shoes with an outfit which was all torn.

They made NO money in the first couple of years.

That template looks much better.
The anticipation for this build is really starting to get to me...

A few people have mentioned that one of the pots might have been for fuzz. Can someone PM me and tell me how this would work? Sounds like a really cool idea.

I was told the third knob was a switch for series/parallel circuit. (Shrugs)

In all the research I did on this (and it was a lot) I never read that the 3rd knob was for a built in fuzz. I did come across the series/parallel thing, but don't remember where I saw it.

Looking good BG! I was worried about the headstock but it looks like its fine...

His basses always had a fuzz sound when I heard them sound checking right before the curtain fell.. I didn't realize that was intentional..

I will be using the EMG EXG for this build. Should be fun!

At a guess, and I want to emphasize guess, the fuzz could have been something like this: Black Ice Overdrive

I talked to David from SGD. I think I'm scrapping the EMG idea, and having him rewire the Artek a gracious TB'er has sent me. Talking to my KISS and bass counterparts, the SGD option is more original, and appropriate for this build.

I'm excited to try something besides EMG.

Just to let everyone know what I'm doing, I'll be rewinding his mudbucker to make it a non mudbucker. Since they are sidewinder style humbuckers, they can sound just like a single coil. So I'll be winding what sounds like a fat aggressive sounding single coil.

I just rewound one from an Epiphone. It's a good way to get a different tone from your mudbucker while keeping the original look. They are also brighter than the DiMarzio Model One.

I have to point out that it sounds like a single coil, but it's fully hum canceling.

Should be similar to these sidewinders, but I'm winding it a little hotter:

Today I did a quick mock up before sending the pickup out for mod.

I'm kind of glad I'm being a little more faithful to the original by going the passive EBO style route.

Man, This pickup is heavy!

Well, Dave from SGD said, "EMG's always sound like EMG's. This option gives you something more unique." Being that I'm doing something unique, why not make the electronics just as special?

Another KISS buddy of mine was like, "If this bass is way different than your Corts, just note the eq differences at practice, so you can adjust quickly at a gig. No use sacrificing the look just for EQ convenience."

I've never played a bass with one of these pups in a band setting. It should be fun.

I always liked the Lobue shape, but would prefer it 34" scale rather than a short scale.
Brings me back to wanting to build my Ibanez Artist Bass (based on the original Artist guitar that weighed a ton but sure looked purty).

I thought about doing it in 34", but the way the neck comes so far out from the body, neck dive seems like it would be an issue.
Here's a 34" LoBue copy.

I have a feeling that the neck on this copy was placed further closer to the bridge. Either way, you get the idea.

It looks sweet but I see where the body needs to be scaled-up to make it look proportional.
Neck-dive is never an issue with a neotech strap.
