You're probably right. Fortunately, I've only encountered 2 know-it-all douche tards.
Them posting anything in a thread is akin to tossing a grenade in a packed movie theater and leaving.

Here is a good pic of the "original", a Gibson EB-0 from 1960.

I'm really digging the gluing a mudbucker cover atop an EMG MM pup idea. That would solve both sound and look requirements. Plus it's super creative. My only concern would be if there will be an output issue with the pickup covered by the metal top?

It shouldn't, but just try it before you glue it.

Anyone know the sizes of the MM pickup and mudbucker pickup cover?

Well, I got my revised plans back. I'm not a fan.

I have one more resource helping me with this body shape, so I will keep you posted.

The last pic is concerning. Not sure if its the angle that is giving it so much booty?

Just offering my opinion, as I want this to come out great for you. On Gene's LoBue, the horns are more "rounded" on the ends. Once that's corrected, it looks as if your rendition will be spot-on. Good luck.

I'd like to present this to Gene himself to look at. I just don't know if going the EMG route will kill the nostalgia factor? Or will he appreciate the electronic face lift?

Is there any way to put the EMG in a mudbucker casing? Surely it'll fit and work, won't it? Or, you could have a chrome casing made for it. It shouldn't be too hard to get one made up and chromed. Just a thought.

During sanding, the horn tips will be tamed.

I like musiclogic's idea of the cover over a proper pickup. If you can find one to fit under the mudbucker cover, it shouldn't affect the pickup's function. That at least would be excellent function following the form...

Well, this is my new dilemma. I love the idea of the metal cover over an EMG. However, I've been informed that the EMG MM pickup is to big to fit under a MB cover. I could forgo the MM pickup and opt for the EMG HB, but that pup seems lame.

This is my theory. If I shave the sides off the mudbucker top, and just epoxy the metal top to the EMG MM, it may be a good solution.
I would also opt for the EMG TWMM, because the push/pull dummy pot would fill that third hole.

I think my above idea will work. The EMG MM is 3.5" X 1.9". The top plate of a mudbucker is 3.52" X 2.12". I doubt I'd be able to use the mounting screws on the MB plate, but the plate would be epoxied to the pickup. I could also use a 35DC, but I may prefer to use a fat MM pup

My builds/mods always have some sort of path, but after the good folks on here help me extract my head from my backside, the path usually changes.

So DiMarzio Model 1 is out? It would fit easily.

I think I want to stick with the EMG MM

I think the EMG coupled with the MB cover would be way more creative.

The only real question I have is what to do with the third pot. The guy at EMG said I could get a regular 25K pull pot, and use the pull/push portion only as the coil splitter for the EMG MMTW

Sorry; I don't remember - are you using an EMG pickup but not an EMG preamp to go with it? Because the obvious setup in my mind would be volume/bass/treble, using an EMG BTS.

I can't do that. I'm stuck using 6mm speed knobs. EMG doesn't make bass preamp or tone shaping pots in split shaft.

I had a cheap mudbucker that went micophonic. I'm having a hard time finding it, but if I do, you can have the cover if you want it, but I may have thrown it away

I think if you shave the mounting ears off of a MM pickup it should just fit under the Mudbucker cover.
