The complaint about polyurethane glue is you cant undo the glue joint. You want to be able to remove the fingerboard in case you need to repair the neck!
I use epoxy to glue phenolic boards on wood necks and they have held up well since I made the first basses back in 1994.
Epoxy, as with titebond and hide glue release when you heat them up hot enough.
