There are 4 different configurations that i can choose for my top and back. The wood top and back are myrtle, the neck is flame maple with a stripe of purpleheart down the center, and purpleheart body to wing transition pieces, the fretboard is pao ferro.

1.

2.

3.

4.

and for reference this is what the tops look like with an oil finish....

So vote and let me know which you like best!

I'd like to see #1 flipped so that all that interesting figure by the top is not lost when you cut out the body - get it into the butt end of the body so you don't lose it

all the best

How can you choose the wood layout without a body shape to work around?

2, then 4. I like the lines to follow the general curve of the body (assuming your body shape is even remotely conventional).

2 or 4, depending on the body shape. Make the grain curves sort of match the contours of the body.
