I use epoxy with cocobolo, fwiw.

I imagine I'll end up using epoxy. My dad had mentioned some type of resin he has that mite work

This is VERY important. Some people react to it immediately. Always wear a mask, goggles, and avoid direct contact between sawdust and skin when possible.

Cocobolo doesn't bother me...but padauk is murder.

I had a SWEET fretless Stambaugh 4 w/an untreated coco bolo fingerboard- Chris told me it(coco)is tricky to work due to the grain changing direction and being a bit unstable IIRC.

I know everybody says its cocobolo wood but when I just saw your pictures what came to my head was bocote!
