Hipshot A bridges

Sign in to disble this ad
By any chance do any of you know where is the best (read: cheapest) place to get a Black Hipshot A-style 5 string bridge? I have scoured ebay and the listings here and noone has ever put one up for sale in the past month or two. I really don't want to pay $125 for a bridge right now. Any help is appreciated.

Check the prices at
www.stewmac.com $107.00
www.lmii.com $103.50
www.allparts.com (not sure if they have a-style)

Keep in mind that these prices are most likely for the black-coated aluminum. For black-coated brass, you'll probably pay more...for example, go to www.bestbassgear.com, and the aluminum black is $107, while the brass black is $121.

Basschair,
Thanks for the links man.

Does the Brass have a big tonal impact on the bass?

What I mean is, will the Brass bridge honestly sound different than the aluminum (deep vs. bright)?

Yes, they DO sound different . . . I personally prefer the aluminum ones.
But it's VERY subjective . . . YMMV!

My search is done!
Wilser, the ever so talented, the ever so generous, has offered me one of his bridges from a project that is on hold for a while. Thanks to all who have been PMing me with more help.

Nice! I'm glad I could help. From what I understand (with no first-hand experience using the brass one), the heavier brass will enhance sustain in the string. Again, this is second-hand info, so beware...
