| Recommendation:
Are you drawing your design to scale? Or just small sketches? I'd recommend getting either a roll of paper, or sme posterboards taped together. Draw your centerline down the entire sheet, then draw your string scale. Make sure to have plenty of room at the top and bottom to design your body around it and your headstock. Example, if you're doing a 34" scale, draw your line down the whole sheet, draw marks at 34" apart, draw your 12th fret mark at 17", your 24th fret at 8.5" from the bridge, and draw your major body width lines parallel to the centerline. If you're planning a conventionally sized body, 12-13" wide is comfy. So draw lines offset 6" from your centerline.
Draw this in ink! Since this centerline and major points are gonna be permanent and your body design and electronics locations are still part of the concept process, draw those lightly in pencil cuz you'll be doing a lot of erasing and redrawing and re-erasing and re-redrawing. |
