I wanna wax my body...

...my bass body, that is!

I have an inexpensive swamp ash bodied Korean Steinberger coming that I'm considering refinishing. I was thinking a simple matte oil finish, but what about a Warwick-style waxed finish?

How is a Warwick finish done? Is it oiled then waxed? What kind of wax - the same as is used for butcher block furniture? Is it going to make my light colored swamp ash body ugly, or would it be complementary?

Can anyone offer any tips?

As I cuddled the porcupine he said I had none to blame, but me.

Use a tung oil varnish blend, several coats. Let dry, then use a furniture paste wax like Butcher's brand. I usually do one last rub with extra fine steel wool before the wax goes on.

On most woods, the wax brings an extra shine out of the wood. I use it on everything.
