Ibanez ATK500 micro setup

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,
I don't have the feeling that the sound changes a lot when i change the switch for micro setup on my ATK500.
I have already replaced the 9v batterry.
Is there something is hould do (cleaning some part, complete check in a guitar shop)?
I have bough it 4 months ago, and i think it is a 10+ years old bass.
Thank you.
If you have an ATK, please share some info regarding your amp and your setup for great sound.

edit: ive just found some info about your bass, has it one three coil bridge pickup and a koa top on it?
Check the wires are not coming lose, (one of mine did the other day, first problem ive had with it and this bass is 5years from new, just resoldered it and it sang again) check everything is clean and intact. Search for a schematic and check everything where it should be.

When you mention switch for micro setup what are you refering to? the pickup selector?
If you cant tell the difference trying going through your amp: eq totaly flat, everything like gain, blend flat/low/off then try the switch, i find soling the bridge coil of the three coil pickup gives you a very bright note, very good for harmonics. Also try different onboard eq settings for each mode. My bass is the ATK405 and has a j pickup by the neck and you can really tell the difference of the two pickups, where as i find it hard with the three coil but it is possible to here differences between the three differing pickups incased.

Sorry if this doesnt help

Dear Northwalianbass,
Yes, it's the 3coil bridge pickup with koa top. Will check the wiring tonight. Could be the answer...
I indeed meant the pick up selector. will check with amp thei evening as well. But this is a low quality amp, so i fear i won't hear any difference
