Ibanez Neck/Fingerboard Mod Question....

Sign in to disble this ad
Alright, I defretted my Ibanez EDB 600 series and did a half way decent job. It got the job done. I don't however, like the tone the rosewood gives it being that is pretty soft (No coating mind you). My question is: Since I heard in the past that Ibanez necks can't be swapped out for any other than an Ibanez neck, Is it possible to replace just the fingerboard on the bass or even to replace the neck? Or should I just coat the board to make it hard? Thanks.

I would just coat it. I know from personal experience that Ibanez basses respond very well to an epoxy coating.
