Jarrah Custom P/ J Bass

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi, I'm currently building a P / J style bass guitar from two pieces of Jarrah Timber (i know that is not ideal) (P style neck, J Style Body, J style Pickup configuration)

What is the best way to get the wiring from the two J bass style pickup cavities to the tone and volume pot cavity? I was thinking of Drilling a hole with a drill at an angle? But the pickup cavities are very thin and hard to get a decent angle...Any constructive Suggestions/ Criticisms?

(The Black Permanent marker on the wood is a rough guide-don't knock it- my last guitar was made using less measurements/ guides)

route the cavities, put some masking tape around the pickup cavities to avoid scratching, and use the long drill bit to get that crazy angle. works like a charm. just make sure the hole ends in the control cavity and not in the side of the bass. BTW that first guitar of yours is sweet!

Yessir, I have the 3 bit kit 1/4", 3/8" and 5/8". 2 builds so far, I have drilled the jack (side mount of course) just use the bit through the jack hole, to drill for the wiring.

Cheers dudes, really helpful advice. That first guitar only took 2 weeks. I Think the bass should only take about a week to build once i have all the parts and the neck.
