Jazz Bass Project

Hopefully this is the correct section for this, please feel free to move it if not!

I am going to fix up this 70s jazz bass knock off. I plan on cleaning up all of the electronics, possibly replacing the pickups (if they don't sound good to my ears) and getting the action just how I like.

My main concern is that I really dislike the neck. It's pretty twisted and warped, and truthfully it's like a baseball bat. Insanely thick and clunky. Mind you, I am a p-bass guy, so I am used to chunky necks, I just really don't like this one. How hard would it be to fit an actual jazz neck on this for not a huge chunk of money? If you have any leads it would be greatly appreciated. Here are some pictures:

SX necks are cheap, especially used- and come up fairly regularly here. No telling if it would match the pocket, though.
Is your bass a *Pan*? I saw one w/similar PUs(screws at the ends)- it also had a faux-pearl block inlayed rosewood fretboard.

Edit: I guess the neck pics weren't up when I first posted.

good guess on the "pan"! Anyone know much about this company?

I am going to keep everything beat up and dirty. This bass was owned by one of my friends in a local hardcore band and it has dings and scratches every where. I kind of dig it though, it has a history to it.

Did you measure the neck pocket? Knowing that would be step 1.

Measure the width at the rear (widest part) and also the depth.

I was told by a guy in a music store trying to sell me a Pan banjo, that he thought the company was based out of Colorado.

I really like SX neck profiles, but the poly coating is a bit nasty.

Getting it to fit shouldnt be to hard, might take a lil file or router work.
