I guess shaping the neck with the wings glued on was a real PITA... kudos for that.

I actually used an angle grinder to take the bulk of the wood off, which definitely made it easier.

I got the inlays in the mail today and was able to get them in. I am hoping to get it sanded all the way over the next week and get the finish going!

You should be building full time.

I know, I tell myself that everyday!

All done sanding and the first coat (of many) of oil is on. I love watching the colors darken and the grain come to life.

Gha! Man oh man, that is looking sweet as honey

The part at the body where you cut out the wood for the pups, gets a ramp in the middle if I'm correct (between the pups). Does any luthier always cuts away that much wood or is it also possible that you just glue in on top of the body, with only some rough sanding?

Normally that is what I would do, but the customer wanted it to be adjustable. Basically like a third pickup, which is a great idea.

If you follow my build that Andy is making for me you can see his take on this. He has built a pickup cover that has different positions under it for different pickup placements. I thought it was a brilliant idea.

Very cool, JC. I believe I remember your first build way back in the day from MX.

You're making some beautiful instruments.

Yeah it was! We used to spend so much time in the Casual. Man, I was on mx a few weeks ago and the bass forum is completely shut down.

Oil, oil, oil and more oil. I am almost done with the oil coats, then I'll let it fully cure and apply a few coats of protective wax.

I've started the final assembly of all the parts. I'll be taking it in to get the electronics done soon.
