has anyone out there ever shaved a little wood off of a Ken Smith neck to change the profile?
specifically the back of the neck near the nut to make it a little sleeker, less chunky?

That might change the sound quite drastically.....I would rather build completely new neck...

Someone with some neck carving skills could probably do it just fine. I doubt you would notice a change in the sound too.

Well, I once replaced MM neck with JB neck, same materials, 2 years difference in age, big change in sound..... perhaps it was somewhere else besides the neck thickness.....then tell me where. I would say I might be wrong on this one, but I really do not know where the sound change might have happened. If it was some cheapo korean Cort I would say go ahead, but I wouldn't definitelly mess with expensive kenny...

Not really. It will be the same wood vibrating, just a little different amount.
