I'll see if I can dig anything up, but the welder I know is a hobbyist and knows nothing about guitars... so he might be able to do it, won't hurt to ask.

Andrew, if I could weld, I'd do it myself, one end is standard thread, one end is reverse thread, and a 11 gauge flat welded to the tops of each threaded block and long nut welded to one end. I just do not have access to welding equipment or the pieces to make it...LOL. Not a metal working guy. I may just try and have an old style Rickenbacker folded leaf made, they are the most simple

Or am I thinking of somebody else...?

No, you're correct, that's where I typically get my custom length rods. They cost around $30 bucks.

P.S. there is also a bit of a wait.
JC, last i talked with them (6 months ago) custom lengths are the same price as standered, just takes longer to get one. I cant find my invoice to know for sure how much it cost.

That would be great Andrew, because the guy on the phone quoted me $106 plus $10.95 shipping and it would be about a month. I could tolerate $30...LOL

Yep, the price the guy quoted me was for 4, just figured the numbers, Jesse at LMI cleared it up.

Just another thing that makes me wonder what Mikeyswood was doing for the rod and why after 2 years he didn't have that either.

Wow that cut quality is absolutely awesome..!! If you don't mind me asking, what router bit did you use. And was the cutting followed by sanding ?

No, I don't mind. Being a "one off" I saw no reason to make a template (other than my poster board one)... so no router. I cut it out with a 3/16" blade on my band saw, fallowed by a spindle sander, hand sanding, and a little work with a scraper.
