I'm trying to find a custom 6-string bass neck.....I'm hoping to find someone that will do custom frets....anyone have any solutions? |

Anyone should be able to do it for you. Talk to any of the builders on here, or someone in your area. Good luck with it. |

His response was quick and he seemed open to making the neck to my specs (33" 4 string bolt on 24 fret). Reasonable price quote, too. I hope this is your experience as well.

Then you'd have perfect action on both parts... |

Then you'd have perfect action on both parts... | That's a great idea, and it has been done. It would assume that the perfect action (above the fret crowns) for fretted is the same as the perfect action (above the fingerboard) for fretless. Could be true, but not necessarily.
Also, FWIW, doing this is covered by a patent, which I believe is in force.
