Other than Warmoth and USCG, can you guys recommend any other vendors for lightweight, matched 2 piece Alder Jazz bodies?
I'm starting a new project and want to explore the options before I order.
Thanks! |

That bass body in my avatar is a two-piece with a walnut top and it weighs just under 4.5 lbs. Ask for the weight of the chosen body. http://stores.ebay.com/A-and-D-Guita...Q3amesstQQtZkm

They have several on there right now under 4lbs.

In fact if you can get 6/4 alder of the proper width, you could easily do most if not all of the shaping done in a day (with the proper tools).
or spend 150$ and get one of these, of course you'd have to have it finished, or finish it yourself... Link
never actually tried them, as alder is cheap, and I already have a few "J" bass templates, it costs me about 40 bucks for enough alder to get a "J" from my own local sources...
Doeringers makes one pretty cheap (link) , dont know about the quality though... and of course youd have to put a finish on it...

just curious, all the burgundy mist basses I've seen are just a shade less pink than the one the low end has right now... |

I've decided to go for a "vintage +" kind of look, so it will be a clay dot style neck, but real thin/modern neck to focus the sound on the mids/cut out the lows. Picked up some of these new res-o-lite tuners from gotoh which are about half the weight of the standard 60's tuners (new alloy), but look the same. Going to get a 2 band audere, and already have some single coil Nords for it... The three bodies I am culling together will each be under 4.5 pounds, I'll test them all out to see which one produces the sound I am looking for (and then probably sell the other 2 on talkbass).
As for the mist, it will be a little less bright then that, more lavender. I've always thought it was a neat color, though I like the green one I just put together I think the attitude of b-mist will be more my style.
This shade is what I am going for... |
