luthiers wanna build

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking to have a Randy Rhoads V syle body built with bevelled sides and routed for 1 musicman pickup, and a neck pocket. Not sure of pocket size yet. Made out of alder or poplar or mahogany or maple. Not really too picky on wood type. I want it unfinished as well. Anyone want to take on this job? Pm a price. Thanks

I don't think you will have too many takers on that vague of a project. I would think most builders will want to have all the parts in hand before doing a project like that.

Have a look at a few websites:
List of TB Luthiers?

Look at past builds. Find a builder that has similar taste / vision to yourself and then approach him / her directly

Exactly. And have a better idea of what you want before you speak to them: control cavity front/back, pickguards, jack location, awareness of the probability of neck dive, etc.

I stated exactly the way I want it. I didn't ask for advice.

Hey, I was trying to pre-load you with the questions you are going to asked when you contact one of the luthiers. It was a fairly normal assumption that you would have wanted electronics cavity routing and jack drilling, and drilling to connect the pup and electronics cavity, as well as to connect the elec. cavity with an outlet for a bridge ground wire.

No need for sarcasm.

Yup I agree. That is what we get for trying to help.

Doesn't say how thick you want the body, doesn't say what position you want the pickup routed, doesn't say what bridge you want to use, flush mount or whether that will need routing in addition to the stuff that Pilot pointed out.

All that indecision in your OP and the vague spec - looks like you've redefined the meaning of 'exactly' as well as raised the bar on arrogance

Talk to Chris Stambaugh or Bud LeCompte. They both have made V shaped basses before and they're both the best guys to go to when it comes to making a unique one-off.

Read the posts and you know who were actually trying to help and I thank you for that.
OP is all I want if someone already had made a body like that then they'd know thickness. I would route whatever and finish it. If the OP was vague then I guess I'm busted by the vague police. If someone wanted to take on the project then I think that would be the appropriate time to discuss specifics.

Keep your comments to yourself if you don't have anything useful to say.

Why don't you just chose a builder, contact him and save us from reading this kind of posts when somebody ask you with info that ANY builder is going to ask you.

Wow.

As to the original post, it said "PM a price," which implies that you thought that you had a sufficiently complete spec already. This was met with people trying to help you to fill out your spec, so you could get an actual quote. If this isn't something "useful to say," I don't know what is.

Myka Guitars is a luthier in the Buffalo area you might check out. He has a website.

Greg,

1. Actually I'm in my third world country... and you know what? I'm really happy here.
2. One of the bad things about Internet is that I can be in my country and still read things retards without much culture/modal (like you) write.
3. Its funny to find people with mind as basics as yours. 40 years old and the best answer you could imagine was: "Go back to your village in your third world country and rape a goat". I'm impressed!!!. Man you should get some kind of award for that. Question: Did you finished high school? Did you even reached high school or you stayed at primary? Which is your IQ?
4. Oppsss... I posted my answer in the thread... sorry my mistake!!

Well... have a nice weekend and go and get ****** by a donkey

Wow.

I don't really see the point in trying to clean this thread up, what with all the goat and donkey copulation.
