Make my own bass guitar

Hey guys, so I was thinking that I want to learn how to make my own bass, but not from one of those kits. I want to learn how to make a real bass from scratch, or at least close to from scratch. Do any of you know where I can do that?

The "How To" and FAQ section has been very helpful for me. Also looking at build threads to see how everything is done.

Short of enrolling in a luthiers school, this website is a great resource for one who wants to get into building.

I stalked the LC for a few years before diving into my first project.

Third sticky from the top.

Welcome to Luthier's Corner, one of the friendliest, busiest luthier forums on the internet. Read the stickies, use the search function, don't ever say 'tonewood,' and enjoy your adventure into our beloved, rewarding, bottomless moneypit of a hobby. ( Except you guys making money at it. Like, all four of you. )

What kind of bass? A bolt on neck like a p or j bass? Do you want to make the neck also and fret it?
