making a acrylic body bass or gutiar.

how would i go about doing this?
can i buy a block of acrylic and cut it out then high polish it? how does it work?

I don't know about the fabrication operations, but you may want to consider making the body small and/or thin, as acrylic is heavy stuff.

swamp ash: 36 lb./cu. ft.
hard maple, airdry: 44 lb/cu. ft.
acrylic: 75 lb/cu. ft.

Good luck with it. I always had a little liking for those Ampeg Dan Armstrongs.
