Making tort pickguard look old / red

I'm putting together a P-bass, and the body will be black nitro. (It's getting clear sprayed as I write). I intend to put a tort pickguard on there.

What I want (out of the tort pickguard) is that bright white/red look that will contrast with the black body. [This is versus the darker tobacco color that many tort looks like when new] I have a warmoth cellulose pickguard in hand, and I was wondering if there is a treatment or process I can apply to bring out some brightness in the pickguard.

Here's an example pic. Not the best example but it shows a slight difference:

I am looking to make my guard look more like the one on the right.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Dan

I think the one on the right is red tortoise and the one on the left is brown tortoise.
