masking tape on newish paint?

Sign in to disble this ad
How old should paint be before you can apply masking tape over it? I'm using rattle cans. The instructions say to wait 7 days before using any rubbing compound so is it the same for tape?

While I'm here. Should I flat down before I lacquer?

regardless of age, use low adhesive blue painter's tape.

waiting 24 hours should be sufficient but don't leave the tape on very long, or expose it to sun.
+1 on the blue tape.
