Modify 30th Anniversary Stingray

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi All:

I have recently purchased a MusicMan SR4 30th Anniversary model. It's a really nice instrument. My personal taste dictates that I would rather have a SR HH instead of the single humbucker. I am considering having the bass modded to accept a neck pickup and the newer electronics from an EBMM SR4 HH.

I have contacted EBMM regarding this. They don't do this kind of work in house. They spelled out the parts list I would need to do it right. If they'll sell me the parts, I think I am going to try to have this work done. Is anybody out there into this type of modification that they could do a neat, clean, professional job?

Please PM any advice, or let me know that you can do the job.

Thanks,
Bob

Pretty sure that EBMM won't sell the parts to you. They have some policy against that. Why not sell it off? You'd be devaluing the collectibility of that unique bass. I say hold onto it the way it is....buy yourself a used SR4HH or a SR4 and modify it with some aftermarket pups.

You're right. They won't sell me the parts. I think I'll follow your advice and find a used SR HH. Thanks for the advice and input.

There was one 30th Anniversary Stingray HH made, there was a picture of it on the Ernie Ball Forums last year, and it was confirmed by EBMM to be a real picture, not a photoshop prank.

There is one out there, Im not sure who owns it though
