Most Durable Jack

Sign in to disble this ad
I was wondering if you guys/gals could help me. I have two basses currently (a MIM Fender Jazz and a TBC JJ) that have faulty jacks. I am able to fix them temporarily, but it seems they always start cracking after a while when the chord wiggles at all - like sometimes when I'm playing. So, I was wondering if anyone could suggest a jack that is built more solidly to "lock in" my connection and last a while. The MIM Fender Jazz jack is on the control plate and TBC JJ jack is on the side. Also, I'm going to be assembling another bass soon, and I want to do that one right the first time Thanks!

You want a drop-in replacement for the one you've got? It's a panel-mount 1/4" mono?

Neutrik is IMO the #1 jack in terms of durability. It's not a drop-in replacement. Switchcraft makes a decent panel-mount that will probably be a drop-in. I'm sure there are better but SC are like $2 a pop.

You might try looking at the Neutrik jacks. The Cort GB basses have locking jacks that are made by Neutrik. Neutrik calls them "1/4" Chassis Jacks. I don't know how much work you would have to do to retrofit one of your basses for them.

Neutrik, (or even the non branded copied versions on ebay) tough little lifesavers, and cool looking heavy-duty mothas too!
