mustang build-neck advice

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all, I'm about to start a mustang bass build. I'm building the body from scratch (1" plain maple back, 1/2" AA grade curly maple top) but i'm not comfortable building necks yet.

don't try to convince me that i can do it. that's just how i roll.

anyways, I saw that rondo sells an SX short scale neck, but i'm not sure of the dimensions of the original/reissue mustang neck.

does anyone know the measurements of the mustang neck heel or better yet, if the SX necks are the same size?

Cheers,
2tone.

I have an '68 Mustang with a 30" neck. What dimensions do you need? I can measure them this evening.

Buy the SX neck & cut the socket to fit it.

+1. If you already had a Mustang body, you'd probably have a problem - but since you're starting from scratch....

BTW, the SX shortscale neck is pretty skinny at the nut and slender overall. Does not feel like a Mustang neck.
