My 2nd Bass for 2007.

This is the 2nd 35 inch scale 6 string I've done this year. The neck is Birdseye Maple, Wenge, and Bubinga. The body is bookmatched Cocobolo with a Flamed Maple Core. The accent layers on the body are ebony and mahogany. The fretboard is Gaboon Ebony with a 40inch radius, stainless frets and paua shell dots on the sides and top. The neck has two trussrods and a graphite beam. It plays like a dream; great action and intonation. I need to take it apart and sand it again. doh!! I would certainly appreciate and feedback or comments.

Hmmmmmm.... very nice design and shape. The horns are very cool. The headstock is wicked! My favorite part! The gold hardware really works, especially with the flamed maple body cores. Elegant, yet very original. I'd be so afraid to try to make a bass with a bridge like that. I'm sure you've got it balanced and intonated exactly precise.

AND DON'T SAND IT ANY FURTHER! I love the subdued soft glow of the satin finish. It looks awesome.

very nice bass loving the wood choices, and the bridge pickup placement.

how thick are the ebony and mahogany accents, and where did you get them from?

I like your wood choices, do you have any soundclips?

May I ask you why the back of your neck is so flat..
A few years ago I made a neck that way and it played a lot better once I did some decent shaping on it..

I don't have any sound clips yet. I'm in the middle of relocating so I'll post some up once I get set up. The neck is pretty damn thin and honestly I was afraid of coming to close to the trussrod pockets. IMO, I like it becasue it matches the 40 inch radius (pretty damn flat.)fretboard well.

Sexy. Uses a lot of my favorite woods, and I like the bridge design. The wooden cover for the electronics cavity is a nice touch too.

Thanks Sterling, I started my first bass about 15 years ago. I have been doing all sorts of woodworking since then, mostly hand carved stair railings (boring!!!) I decided this year that it was time to do a couple more.

The mahogany is close to 0.125 inches an the two ebony layers are 0.0313 inches. I milled the stock up myself out of some pieces I had 'laying around'.

I really love the headstock design, it is good to see something original in that department for once. The whole bass looks really well made and very nice. Also, I like the way that you did the neck joint.
