My 2nd custom started

Sign in to disble this ad

Basically it is 62 Fender P clone with piezo p/u at bridge. But naturally there are a few mods/improvements here and there because it's custom made. I've waited about six months after I sent them final specs. Three days ago they started making mine. May be within 3 months, my wait will be over.

Specs: May change if there is brilliant idea from TBers.

* Construction: Machine screw bolt on with stainless steel neck insert

* Scale: 34"

* Fret: 20, Vintage style stainless steel (width 2.1mm height 0.94mm)

* Fingerboard radius: 12" rosewood without position marker (only zirconium side dot)

* Pickguard: Fender P tortoise shell - not real shell

* Body: Alder, Fender Precision type

* Head: Fender Precision type

* Neck: Quartersawn hard maple, U profile, 1.5" width at graphite nut, 2 graphite reinforcing bars along truss rod

* Bridge: Vintage Fender style

* Tuner: Gotoh vintage style reverse type in nickel finish

* Neck p/u: Nordstrand NP4

* Bridge p/u: Graph Tech Ghost piezo saddle pickup with Acousti-Phonic bass preamp + mid/dark switch

* Pot: Magnetic p/u volume, magnetic p/u tone, piezo p/u volume with push/pull mid-dark switch

* Finish: Polyurethane tobbaco sunburst

* String: Fender 9050ML flatwound (not body through)

* Miscellanous: Thumb rest

I'd like to thank to all TBers who helped my decisions and provided brilliant ideas - magnetic p/u, piezo p/u, zirconium side dot, neck inserts, graphite bar, control layout, string, and fret selections.

I will post more pics as progress.

And if you have any comment or idea, please let me know.

Thank you all. You TBers are bunch of sweet guys/gals.

I like tobacco burst, especially with that deep clear... That's some good looking wood, though.

Who is "they" that are making this bass. Also one thing i might recomend is a nitrocellulose laquer finish. So eventually you get that nice worn in vintage look. Although not as durable as poly.

Sadly, there are only Korean pages available. But you can see various moving GIFs of their custom guitars.

U profile? That means thick neck!
Are you sure a D profile wouldn't be better?

Finish completed

After some hesitation, I've changed my mind. From tobocco to 3 tone!

Now...

3 tone sunburst finish completed.

Can you see slot at the bridge? There goes 4 leads of GraphTech piezo saddles.
