My Custom Build

Sign in to disble this ad
I've decided I want to build my own custom bass and I could really use some advice from you guys. For starters, let me list out what I'm looking for as an end result...

P bass body

J bass neck (maple)

custom inlays on dots

modified headstock with 3 + 1 tuning machine setup

2 EMG humbuckers

2 output jacks

badass bridge

black pick guard

dark silver finish with yellow design on body and headstock

4 knobs (volume, pan pot, tone for each pickup)

I guess I'm looking for some critique/suggestions on the concept and some advice on where to get started. My plan was to buy a P bass body from Warmoth and find a luthier or woodworker who could do the necessary routing to accomodate the HH configuration and 2 outputs.

I plan to post pictures on this build the whole way through.

Thanks in advance for your help.

DK

Why the two outputs? Just asking. And what type of inlay where to planning on? what woods for the neck? With a dark silver finish on the body and head stock ebonal or phelonic boards would look nices. Please excuse spelling errors lol.

Look foward to seeing progress. This will be one of a kind. Best of luck

I wanted to do something a little different with this bass so I am considering using two outs and wiring it ric-o-sound style.

For the inlay I'd love to be able to design a small shape to be used in place of dots. I haven't put too much consideration into what I had in mind there. Just something different. I'm not totally sold on the silver and yellow yet either. I'm just sure I want a painted headstock.

Thanks for reading the post
