My first attempt at a neck refinish

Well a while back I decided to try my hand at refinishing an SX J neck to replace the chunky P neck on my SX P/J bass. I bought the supplies from Guitar Re-Ranch for about $40. The finish from them is nitro lacquer, and the finish that was on the SX neck was that vintage poly. After doing some research on poly finishes and how much of a pain to get it all off is, I decided to just leave it rather than dealing with all that mess. I sanded it down quite a bit to thin it out as much as I could without going all the way through it, then went over it with the white primer. After that came the black and clear, with of course lots of sanding and smoothing along the way. It probably took a lot longer than it would for me to do it again since it was a learning process the whole way, especially since black shows EVERY imperfection no matter how small. I'm pleased with the end result though, I didn't expect it to come out this nice. The only thing is I'm not sure if I want to put some kind of logo on the headstock eventually or not yet.

Check it out:
