My First Bass From Scratch

Sign in to disble this ad
Greetings to all, im just throwing this up here to see what some more experienced builds think of this. I have built a few warmoth kit basses (gecko and jazz basses), i thought it was time to try one from scratch. i think i over did it a little bit, maybe to flashy of a design for a first timer. but here she is.

Neck: Wenge/Bubinga/Wenge/Bubinga.Curely Maple(repeat). it also has some thin veneer's just for looks. probably gona put an ebony fret board on it. dual trussrods.

Body: Maple Burl/Black veneer/White venner/Bubinga core/(repeat)

its gona be a six string through neck, with gold hardware. i havent quite figured out the electronics. (to many choices, keep changing the mind)

once i make more progress ill post some more pics, although i must admit i might be waiting till i get back from Galloup, i dont want to screw up on fretting or anything like that. thanks for anyfeedback.

i also want to thank Shawn May (maybass77) for his help, he has been an invaluable resource all along the way.

course you don't shawn

Looks great man, that's some pretty sick maple burly, and once you cut this thing out and do some carving the veneers are gonna look great.

That piece of burl is pretty large! It looks like if you plan and cut carefully, you might be able to get a second top set out of it, or a back set.
