My first build. Need a little help first

Im gonna build an Explorer shaped bass.
I have an Explorer guitar template
Do the bodies vary in size at all between the bass and the guitar?

Hey CheeZit - I haven't compared them but I would guess the bass body is a little larger (probably longer) than its guitar counterpart. Bottom line is the body size is your choice since you are making the bass yourself. I'll see what I can find out for you...

Have you considered the problems you will have with neck dive on a body shape like that?

Watson Guitars - Thanks a lot. I have a template, and it seems like a decent size. But I suppose it could go bigger. Im gonna keep digging around and see what I can find

mynameisandyb - Im not too worried about neck dive. Im a pretty big boy(6'3". 235), and Im sure I can handle it

watsons right its really up to you my bass has a body the same as a les paul guitar

ye... im also planning on building a bass (1st time)... but i'm really new to the whole bass thing (i just play in my band whic is rlly just 4 mates and we didnt have a bassist), and i dont no much about the parts, other than the ones that are outwardly visible on the things (machine heads, bridge, pups etc.). Could i maybe be suggested some links or other sourced that could help me?
