My first homebuilt bass is playable!

Sorry for the webcam pictures, but its about 11pm right now and im planning on going to bed

not finished yet of course, needs paint, proper electronics and another pickup at the bridge. and lots and lots of sanding

I recorded a soundclip which i have yet to upload, but it sounds noticably fatter and warmer than my jazz, It doesnt feel as good for slap though, and the upper fret access totally sucks(its part of the Tbird design though)

Im going to route the MM pickup tomorrow. It has loads of sustain(probably cos of the big bridge), which is surprising since the neck pocket was pretty badly routed.

Cool

Isn't that a great feeling? I was half-surprised when my son's (as yet unfinished)short-scale fretless came out quite playable. Keep at it; the next one will be even better! I am also a T-Bird fan.

Nice one.

Why don't you buy to Gibson replacement Thunderbird Pickups? Bartolini do Thunderbird p/ups too. You can get them over here in the UK, I am sure you must be able to get them over there.

Are you throwing a pickguard on there? Also, what color are you planning on?
