My first neck blank!

Just finished my first neck blank. It turned out much better than I thought it would. No complaints at all.

What do guys think? Should I have the thin purpleheart lams between the body and the neck? I think it breaks up the maple a little.

They are Ok for me but that neck its not tapered yet so when you taper it you will have it running out just about around the 15 fret I guess.

No, the small pieces of purpleheart aren't cut to length yet. They wouldn't be part of the neck. They'll stop at the body/neck transition.

I'm just not sure if they'll add or detract from it...

I think it helps on the spalted on the face side but not the walnut on the back. The plus on the face outweighs the "so-so" on the back so I say go for it.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. If it was all walnut I wouldn't, but I think the transition between the two pieces of maple needs it.
