If even, maybe just a ton of elbow grease would do it. As for the parts, might as well use this as an excuse to upgrade. Although I imagine what with the fire that money's tight.. Sorry about your troubles man, that's horrible. :\

And maybe rubbing alcohol and paper towel on the electronics and wiring. Take a lil work but beats a refin! |

I'm 17, and really want to be a fireman, but I'm concerned that it's going to be too busy of a job for me to stay in practice with my music. On the other hand, I hear there's plenty of free time around the station between fires and whatnot. opinion?

I'm sorry you lost your house, it is extremely cool that your bass survived. That's serious mojo - put her back together and play the heck out of her!

| | | | Look over the body and neck to make sure the wood's not cracked or warped from the heat. Relax the truss rod and inspect the bond line between the fretboard and the neck to look for any gaps and sight down the neck to see how straight it is. Also, check the headstock for cracks in the wood. If everything is structurally sound, the beast can rise once again. Part are readily available and for less than or equal to the cost of replacing this bass with a new one, you can put this one back together and have an even better partner than one you can ever buy in any store.
The trade off is that you will have to name it either Phoenix or Charlie... that's just how it is.

then rebuild it.. i wouldn't worry about the finish at all.. it's something that you can look back on.. you will eventually get another bass, don't go through the hassle of trying to refinish it..
play it.. |
